Yamim Online Movie Screenings

This spring, as we approach the Yamim - Israeli National Holidays - we invite you to come together in reflection, remembrance, and celebration. Friends of JNF Canada is proud to offer three complimentary online film screenings in honour of the national holidays.  

An online viewing link will be sent to registrants in advance of the dates noted below. Registration is required for each film. 

Unbroken, in honour of Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day)

Unbroken (2025), directed by Beth Lane, follows the daughter of a Holocaust survivor as she embarks on a quest to uncover how her mother and her six siblings escaped Nazi Germany, relying on youthful bravado and the kindness of strangers. Unbroken is a story of hope, survival and the bonds that endure even when life pulls them apart. Read the full synopsis here

Home Front, in honour of Yom HaZikaron (Israel’s Memorial Day) 

Home Front (2025), directed by Noam Sobovitz & Hila Salomon, follows an Israeli reservist's combat diary and his wife's home recordings. As he battles in Lebanon and trauma resurfaces, she manages a difficult pregnancy and a dying father. Their documentation portrays an Israeli relationship put to the test by the emotional cost of war, and the different worlds between the home front and the war front since October 7th. The Stronghold, in honour of Yom Ha’atzmaut (Israel’s Independence Day) 

The Stronghold (2024), from director Lior Chefetz, opens in the Sinai Desert during the Yom Kippur War, 1973. In a remote outpost, a company of Israeli soldiers are overwhelmed by a sudden Egyptian onslaught. After a week of ceaseless assaults, the survivors face imminent doom. With lives hanging by a thread, a young lieutenant and an army doctor confront a soul-shattering choice: a desperate last stand or a perilous gamble that could betray everything they stand for.
