*Host information and a sign up form to host a Shabbat Dinner appears below.*
Join us on Friday, April 24 as our community comes together for Shabbat For Israel, a special evening honoring the spirit, resilience, and joy of Israel in celebration of Yom Ha'atzmaut.
This year, we're inviting community members to open their homes and host a Shabbat for Israel dinner. Our goal is to see 300 Shabbat tables across Canada. Whether you gather a few friends or fill your table, your Shabbat meal becomes part of a global tapestry of unity and support for Israel.
Light the candles. Share a meal. Celebrate Israel.

FAQs:
What is Shabbat for Israel? In honour of Yom Ha’atzmaut, Israel’s Independence Day, Friends of JNF Canada is creating a nationwide Shabbat dinner experience. Homes and synagogues from coast to coast will be filled with friends and families all bound together by their unwavering support for Israel.
Why should you participate? Shabbat for Israel is an opportunity to invite and engage your community in a joyful celebration while learning more about Israel and Friends of JNF Canada. This Shabbat dinner will inspire and strengthen our unity. By lighting candles and sitting down together in informal but meaningful settings, we will shine a light on our shared love and support for the land and people of Israel.
Who are dinner hosts and what are host responsibilities? Lay leaders and volunteers will bring together their friends and family through hosted Shabbat dinners across the country. Hosts are asked to invite a minimum of two guests who are not usually at their Shabbat table to their home for dinner on Apr 24, with the goal of making Israel the focus of that Shabbat.
What support will hosts receive? Once registered, hosts will be invited to participate in several special events leading up to Shabbat for Israel as an opportunity to connect and engage with the Friends of JNF Canada community. Hosts will also receive a Shabbat for Israel Toolkit, which includes a Shabbat Guide, decorations, recipes, and discussion cards. Hosts will also receive a small host's gift as a thank you for their hospitality.
The Lead-Up - Once a Shabbat for Israel host has registered, they’ll have the opportunity to participate in several exciting events ahead of the April 24, including virtual cooking and other classes (more details coming soon).
Will there be a solicitation at Shabbat for Israel dinners? This is not a fundraising event, but rather an opportunity to engage hundreds of participants nationwide to make the land and people of Israel the focus of Shabbat.
