Saving lives on Israel’s northern frontTzafon Medical Center (TMC), located near the Sea of Galilee, stands at the heart of Northern Israel’s healthcare system. Founded in 1955 in modest wooden barracks, the hospital has grown into a 450-bed medical center serving the diverse populations in the region. Today, TMC is a beacon of medical excellence and coexistence, and a critical lifeline for communities living under increasing security threats.
Since October 7, 2023, Northern Israel has faced sustained missile attacks from Lebanon and Iran, placing immense pressure on regional healthcare infrastructure. TMC’s Trauma Unit has been on the front lines of these emergencies.
Following the devastating Hezbollah missile strike on the Druze village of Majdal Shams in July 2024, where 12 children were killed, TMC provided immediate, life-saving care to the wounded. Over the past four years, admissions of severe and critical trauma cases have increased fivefold. Yet the Trauma Unit currently operates in an 84-square-meter space with only three fully equipped beds, dangerously insufficient during mass casualty events.
How your gift will help TMC is launching an ambitious and essential renovation and construction project to renovate the Trauma Unit.
They are raising fund to expand the trauma bay, from 84 sq m to 119 sq m. The trauma bay is a specialized, high-intensity resuscitation area within an emergency department designed for the immediate assessment and treatment of critically injured patients. This expansion will more than double capacity from 3 to 7 fully- equipped trauma beds. The expansion will also include advanced trauma equipment and critical care infrastructure.
This expansion will enable rapid, simultaneous treatment of critically injured patients, ensuring no life is lost due to lack of space or resources.
