Rabbi Daniel and Tova Green are being honoured in recognition of their extraordinary leadership, devotion to community, and enduring commitment to Israel. Together, they have dedicated themselves to building a vibrant, connected Jewish community in Hamilton rooted in tradition, education, and shared responsibility.
A lifelong member of the Hamilton Jewish community, Rabbi Green continues a remarkable legacy of leadership. He serves as the spiritual leader of Adas Israel Congregation and Dean of Hamilton Hebrew Academy, institutions his father, Rabbi Mordechai Green z”l, helped found many years ago.
Tova and Rabbi Green began their careers together doing outreach to young Jewish professionals in Midtown Manhattan through the Jewish Enrichment Center, an organization they founded. From the outset, their shared mission has been to strengthen Jewish life through connection, learning, and engagement.
Tova serves as a librarian at the Hamilton Hebrew Academy, where she fosters a culture of learning and curiosity. At the Adas Israel Congregation, she helps shape community programming, creating curated experiences that are meaningful and thoughtfully designed. Through her warmth, attentiveness, and dedication, Tova plays a central role in cultivating belonging within the community.
Through programming, outreach, and hospitality, the Greens have touched individuals and families across Hamilton. They have created spaces where people feel supported and inspired to deepen their connection to Jewish life, while encouraging communal responsibility and connection to Israel.
Central to their vision is a deep love for Israel. Longtime supporters of JNF Canada and now Friends of JNF Canada, they have consistently championed initiatives that strengthen the land and people of Israel.
In honour of this occasion, they are supporting the creation of a Learning Centre within a synagogue cultural complex in Moshav Shlomit, a pioneering community in Israel’s south. The centre will be built in memory of four members of Shlomit’s security team killed defending a neighbouring community on October 7, 2023. Through this project, they seek to create a meaningful bond between Hamilton and Shlomit, grounded in resilience, remembrance, and hope.
It is a privilege to honour Rabbi Green and Tova for a legacy rooted in wisdom, compassion, and commitment to the Jewish people and the State of Israel.
